Missouri based rock collective Decadent Nation released a music video for their politically charged, new single My Kind. “They’ve released the xenophobes” lead vocalist Colin LaVaute sings as stark footage of America under the threat of Trump, is projected onto the band while they rip through the tune. The song itself amounts to be a stylistic crossbreed of Queens of the Stone Age and The Hives.
“DN has always been a socio-politically charged band,” says LaVaute. “We are living in arduous times. Just look at the rise in aggression towards minorities since the election. Though we wrote this song early in the year, it speaks more to what we are about to go through, as a country.” The video is reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine’s Testify video, using footage from famous recent events ranging from Trump rallies to the protests in Ferguson, Missouri. The band is no stranger to political demonstrations, after having performed guerilla concerts during the rise of the Occupy movement. Decadent Nation has no plans to release an album at this time, but if My Kind is any indication the band is feeling as inspired as ever. The song is available to stream on Spotify and can be purchased via iTunes.
