Charissa (pr. KA-RISS-A) is a singer/songwriter from Burlington, Ontario. As a young child, she began singing along to Disney songs and later, began curiously strumming on a guitar and learning basic chords in order to accompany herself. She enrolled in vocal and guitar lessons and began to play acoustically at a local coffee house, helping her gain valuable performance experience in front of an audience.
In the summer of 2009, she entered the CNE Rising Star Talent Competition as a timid 12 year old. But, it didn’t take long for her to impress the judges in each of the preliminary rounds. The maturity and conviction in her voice along with her guitar skills, secured her a spot in the finals and was ultimately crowned junior and grand champions of the competition. A feat that no one had ever accomplished at such a young age. With titles in hand , she embarked on her musical journey, gaining local recognition and awards along the way. She has spent the last 8 years performing on many stages and in many venues, from small backyard get-togethers to large outdoor stages and a little bit of everything in between, and always making time to support local charities. Often described as an old soul, her powerful vocals command your attention every time she steps up to a microphone. The warm distinctive tone in her voice, combined with her gentle natural vibrato creates a unique and inspiring sound. Her love and passion in performing is evident every time she gets in front of an audience, delivering dynamic and emotional performances impressing audiences of all ages. Notable appearances include performances at the award winning Sound of Music Festival, City of Burlington Canada Day Festivities, CHCH TV Live Music Fridays, and Nashville’s legendary Blue Bird Cafe. She is currently writing and recording for her first solo project, a unique country blend, revealing musical influences spanning across genres. “I like all kinds of music and all kinds of sounds. It’s just more fun that way.” “In May of 2017 Charissa released her debut single as an artist - I Got My Girls (Independent) - co-written with Wilson Daniels, Wilson Daniels Music of Oakville, Ontario, I Got My Girls is presently garnering terrestrial AM/FM radio airplay on Country stations across Canada and was recently added into rotation on SiriusXM Canada on CBC Country 171. From the time Marco was just a little school boy, his father, an unshakable music lover with a singular passion for American and British rock, pop and folk, inspired him to follow his own path and become curious and explore the roots of American music, such as blues, gospel, and country.
He started playing guitar at the age of 11 and his curiosity soon turned into such a feverish passion, he swore to himself that he would grow up to be a musician. He started playing guitar professionally at the age of 12. He finished his obligatory schooling at the insistence of his mother Silvia and then immediately enrolled in the Saint Louis College Of Music in Rome. For him, this opened the flood gates to other instruments, singing, and composition. Fundamentally unhappy with the local scene and the musical possibilities that Italy could offer him, he decided to break out of the peninsula. With a knapsack and his guitar on his shoulder, he began leading a life of travel, learning languages, playing, writing and producing music without any national boundaries. First he moved to the Netherlands with his rock band, and soon embarked upon a solo career, taking up the lead on singing as well and moved to Paris, France. Later, he established himself in London, the European capital of pop, rock and soul, where he unceasingly continues down his own path as a composer, performer, and singer. Iggy Pop stumbled upon one of his YouTube videos and publicly declared that he is destined to be a star. Breaking News! On Nov. 20 Undecided Future was chosen by Jason Derulo as the winner of his episode 3, a Ryan Seacrest’s global music competition called ‘Best.Cover.Ever.’ The video currently has over 7 million views, and is exclusively on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyhLwVuBqEg&t=1016s
